The Drake

Head : As mallard but wider neck ring encircling the neck

Breast : Claret with each feather laced with white

Back : Light grey with black frosting,shading to black with beetle-green sheen on the rump. Some light claret feather extend along the flanks

Underbody: White

Bill : Green

                                        The Duck

Head and upper neck : Very pale fawn to cream or white with darker graining on the crown

Body : White with brown and grey mottling,more pronounced on upper body and breast

Bill : Light orange-brown with rich brown saddle.

In both sexes : Speculum iridescent blue

Defects : Pied markings in head of drake, ducks with buff ground colour pencilled with brown
